Callicoverse

Welcome to an ever-expanding universe of interconnected storylines about one lonely dragon and his star.

The callicoverse

A fictional universe consisting of different Spheres. Each Sphere has its own rules and laws. Sometimes there's magic. Other times it's like our world— simple, flawed, warm. All of the times, though, there's a man who holds the soul of a dragon (Tae) and one who is a star (Jeongguk).

The Spheres

So what are these Spheres? These are all the non-canon aus, coexisting simultaneously within the Callicoverse. The Spheres must never come in contact; otherwise, the results will be catastrophic for the entire universe. Here we have three different kinds: white, grey, and black.

White, Grey, black

White Spheres are mainly fluffy (i.e., The Cherry On Top) and angst is only there for flavor. Like a tiny little pinch of it!The grey Spheres are ambiguous. There are dark forces (e.g., Calli) that torture the heroes of the story. There are usually mildly or heavily angsty but they always have a happy ending.Black Spheres are like black holes. These include aus where our heroes don't end up together. The only existing black Sphere is the Time au, aka SINGULARITY.

Origin STORY: WTWWR

In this universe, the origin story: Where the Wild Wyverns Roam marks the beginning of the entire Callicoverse. This story features the first taekook pair in the history of this universe and the events that happened there resonated throughout the infinite number of Spheres (aus). If you don't want to get spoiled about the WTWWR story, I suggest you read it first and then come back here. If you don't mind, then let's see some of the themes that resonate across the entire universe.

Recurring themes across the spheres

draco & Polaris

The constellation of Draco represents Taehyung as the Dragon named Ventus from WTWWR while Polaris is the northern star that he guards and protects, which is of course Jeongguk. In WTWWR, dragons turn into stars after they die. Ventus took his place among them along with Jeongguk after centuries of being together. In the different Spheres, Jeongguk always carries a dragon with him, either in the form of a tattoo (e.g., Racing Red), a scar, or a mole pattern that resembles it (The Memory Thief).

Dragon's Heart

A Dragon's heart is the source of its magic and long lifespan. In WTWWR, Ventus shares half of his heart with Prince Jeongguk in order to save him after the accidental and lethal blow delivered to him by the Knight of Roses, Seokjin. So, in that story, they share one-half of the same heart. This is basically the reason why sometimes their feelings for each other are intense and uncontrollable in the rest of the Spheres. They are two halves that seek completion, always looking for each other to finally be one.

"If love is an eternal flame, they keep burning for each other."

Tempesta's Wrath

Tempestas is Ventus'/Taehyung's twin dragon brother. His soul didn't reach the stars as Ventus slew him for wanting to kill the people of the Kingdom of Bangsan. However, remnants of his wrath echo in the Callicoverse. In some Spheres, Tempesta's wrath and wish for revenge still linger. This mainly happens to the Spheres that are closer to the Origin Sphere (au). Imagine the Callicoverse being like the solar system. The closer an au is to the Sun/Origin story, the more echoes of it you'll find.As of today, the Spheres that are the closest to the Origin story are:

foci: important locations

Now that we took a look at all these, I would like to emphasize the importance of certain recurring locations/spaces that appear throughout the Spheres: Bomnal, RJ's (and its different linguistic variations), Bangsan and Songju (from the BTS World). These spaces are connected to certain characters. While there are patterns, the associations may change based on the plot, external influences, and so on. Let's check them out.

Bangsan & Songju

When the story isn't set in Seoul/Busan/etc, we have Bangsan. This is a fictional town, city, or village (or even a building as we saw in The Memory Thief located in Seoul). The word is a combination of the words Bang (Bangtan) + san (산 mountain in Korean).Bangsan can take the shape of a coastal town (A Body of Water; A Mind of Light), a typical Korean village, or a rural American town (Luminous Dark). If you see Bangsan, it means that the story will have more layers as the characters are about to go through a transformation that will impact themselves and those around them. This is because this au is closer to the Origin Story.Similarly, Songju (found in Luminous Dark) is a bigger city. This is a canon space I borrowed from BTS World and it works as a sister space to Bangsan.

Bomnal: taehyung's space

[SPOILERS FOR SINGULARITY]Usually a bakery, a coffee shop, or a flower shop, Bomnal's first appearance occurs in SINGULARITY, the Doctor Who-inspired au where Taehyung is a Sand Keeper (similar to a Time Lord). The events of SINGULARITY caused a first-seen effect that made the reappearance of Bomnal in other Spheres possible. It's an echo, if you like, of the Time Sphere.Bomnal is Taehyung's Focus (space), a place of comfort for him where he usually tries to collect his thoughts. Sometimes, though, things change and we may find Jeongguk there (In Retrouvaille he was the owner of Bomnal, a flower shop in Busan). At first glance, it's a normal shop but in SINGULARITY it used to be Sand Keeper Taehyung's time machine. So, in a nutshell, it is an echo bleeding into every other Sphere. If you are familiar with Doctor Who lore, the connection that Tae has with Bomnal is very strong and organic (like the Doctor with their TARDIS). Bomnal as a space usually gives Taehyung all the answers to his problems. In a way, it gets him where he is supposed to be, i.e., to Jeongguk.Members associated with Bomnal: Jimin, Namjoon (sometimes), Hoseok

RJ's: Jeongguk's space

[MORE SPOILERS FOR SINGULARITY]Like Bomnal, RJ's is a bar or a restaurant that is almost always run by Seokjin. Yoongi is usually a barman there while Jeongguk sometimes works as a waiter/musician or it is his favorite place. However, this place is connected to him in ways you can't imagine.Let's start with the name: RJ's / RJ. You may think that this is from our favorite BT21 character but in truth it is an acronym, standing for Rescue Jeongguk. The first time we come across RJ's in the Callicoverse is in SINGULARITY. RJ's is a meeting place where a plan was hatched to save Jeongguk from a certain fate. Maybe he is a prisoner trapped in a pocket in space. If you read the prompt you know that Time traveler Tae lands on Earth and meets him. Maybe Jeongguk isn't even human there. So, in a nutshell, RJ's is a place of comfort for him. Like Tae, Jeongguk gravitates toward RJ's and finds the answers he is looking for, usually by talking to his hyungs. Usually, we find RJ's like this but sometimes you may come across variations of it like in Racing Red (and Lollipop Red) where it is a French restaurant named Remi's Jardin.Remember: SINGULARITY is a Black Sphere so the events there were catastrophic for that universe. However, due to time travel, Singularity is the ONLY Black Sphere that will have a happy ending.

Thank you for reading through this introduction to the Callicoverse. I'm sure some things may not make sense yet because we are missing aus like the SINGULARITY one but as the universe expands I will try to collect all information here.
